Carpooling offers you the comfort and flexibility of a private vehicle with fewer costs, fumes and frustrations. Travel with somebody that you work with, a friend, or a neighbour, what ever suits you best.

CarpoolLogo.jpgTo use carpool.ca Central Okanagan residents simply visit the user-friendly website and register by filling out an on-line form and choosing a destination. Once registration is complete, a list of potential carpool matches will be provided. All information is kept strictly confidential and no commitments are made by signing up.

Carpooling has many environmental, community and personal benefits. It reduces the number of cars on the road, which in turn means fewer emissions polluting our air. Carpooling also eases traffic congestion and lessens the demand for new roads and parking lots.

Plus it can save you money! According to the Canadian Automobile Association the annual cost of owning a mid-size vehicle that travels 12,000 kilometres a year is $8,377.05 or $25.17 per day. These figures do not include parking fees.

Different ways to carpool:

  • One person drives, others share the costs.
  • Rotate driving duty.
  • Carpool every day, or on occasion.
  • Company vehicles sometimes sit in the parking lot all night - talk to your employer about using them to carpool.
