Kelowna RCMP Seniors Contact Program
What is the Seniors Contact Program?
The Kelowna RCMP, through its Community Policing Offices, has initiated a Seniors Contact Program. In this program, seniors who qualify will be contacted for our Community Policing Offices by phone on a regular basis (Monday to Saturday).
Who Qualifies?
Persons living alone who DO NOT have a caregiver, homemaker, etc. checking or visiting on a regular basis.
Application Procedure
Persons who have been referred for this program will be interviewed by the Crime Prevention Office to determine suitability. Accepted applicants will be required to complete and sign the application/release form.
Referrals for this program will be taken from agencies and organizations working with seniors or from individuals who are aware of seniors who live alone and could benefit from this program.
How Does the Seniors Contact Program Work?
At a predetermined time every day (usually between 9 am and 12 noon), program participants will be called by telephone. The call will be brief – the intent is to ensure the person is okay (please remember this is not a casual social call).
If contact cannot be made (no answer), we will try back at least 3 times over one hour. If there is still no answer, one of the individuals listed as an emergency contact on the application form will be contacted.
Who Do I Contact?
