John Howard Society Restorative Resolutions Program
The Focus
The Focus of the Restorative Resolutions Program is on restoring relationships between victim, offender and the community. The process involves a Resolution Forum in which a written agreement will be made between the victim and the offender to restore harm done. Progress is monitored and reported back to the member.
Referral Guidelines
An offender is referred to this program if:
- it is a “chargeable incident”
- the offender is 18+ years of age
- there is no significant related criminal history
- the offender admits responsibility, is cooperative and is willing to participate in the program
- a victim is clearly identified and is willing to participate in the resolution process
Chargeable Incidents
Charges that are referred to the program include:
- Assault – except relationship
- Cause disturbance
- Theft, forgery, fraud, false pretense, uttering (all under $5000)
- Unlawful use of a credit card under $5000
- Mischief to property under $5000
- Taking auto without owner’s consent
- Unauthorized use of computer
- Indecent act except directed towards children
- Communication for the purpose of prostitution
- Possession of small quantity of drug
- Other ‘Summary Conviction’ only offences
