Supportive Housing

The Province and the City of Kelowna have partnered to create up to 140 new supportive housing units on three City-owned sites that are appropriately zoned for the proposed apartments.
Building costs are estimated to be $30 million, with annual operating costs approximately $1.6 million. The Province is providing capital and operating funding and the City of Kelowna provided the land for a nominal fee on a 60-year lease. The land was assessed in 2007 at more than $2 million.
Newgate Housing
Under constuction as of February 2011, Newgate at 195 Rutland Road North will provide up to 49 units of longer-term, transitional housing. This site will be operated by John Howard Society of the Central and South Okanagan.
NOW Canada- Tutt Street
Opened in 2011, the 39-unit Tutt Street is operated by New Opportunities for Women (NOW) Canada Society
Willowbridge
Opened in 2010, Willowbridge at 330 Boyce Crecent provides 40 studio apartment-style housing units. The supportive/transitional housing program for individuals on limited incomes who are at-risk of homelessness and have experienced significant barriers to maintaining long-term housing. The complex is a LEED -Gold Certified building with a focus on environmental sustainability.
The site is operated by the Canadian Mental Health Association.
