Real Estate & Building Services
Real Estate and Building Services Department is responsible for the fair and equitable acquisition, disposition, development, management and maintenance of the City’s real estate assets.
The department also oversees the administration of the City's rental properties.
Services are delivered by four branches:
Building Services operates and maintains all civic facilities including arenas, stadiums and pools. In addition, this branch provides trade services to all city departments on an as needed basis (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting and general maintenance).
Property Management
Property Management provides quality management services to all occupants of City owned buildings and properties, maximizes revenues for the use of civic property and maintains leases, licenses, contracts and agreements for the use of various City assets.
Real Estate Services negotiates and implements real estate transactions involving the purchase, development, and disposal of municipal properties and other forms of land tenure to support civic requirements for roads, parks, utilities and strategic initiatives. Real Estate Services is additionally responsible for:
- Preparing land cost estimates for projects,
- Preparing land acquisition, disposition and assembly plans and,
- Inspecting sites, evaluating methods to subdivide and rezone, and preparing budget recommendations.
Strategic Land Development
Strategic Land Development identifies opportunities that add value to the City’s property assets and that achieve key goals of the community as they arise as from time to time. This branch leads the redevelopment of City owned land.
