Liveability and Quality of Life

The City has a positive influence on residents quality of life, particularly in providing recreational and cultural pursuits.

The top three things that residents say makes Kelowna a liveable city were:

  1. Climate or weather
  2. Recreation, leisure and cultural pursuits
  3. Lake(s), waterfront and access to the waterfront
The top three things that make a good neighbourhood were:
  1. Safety, lack of crime, and policing
  2. Good neighbours
  3. Clean and well kept yards, houses etc.
The most important things that make a community a good place to live and work were:
  • Feeling safe and secure in your community
  • The environment in which we live
  • The overall appearance of the city / Availability of green spaces for recreation and enjoyment

These were all critical strengths for the City.

  • Programs and services for recreation sports and leisure
  • Proximity to stores and services
  • Availability of green spaces for recreation and enjoyment

Critical weaknesses identified were: 

  • A sense of community in your neighbourhood 
  • Providing assistance for people in need
  • Variety of housing
