Public Transit

Public transit was ranked in the middle in terms of importance of factors in making a community a good place to live and work. However, it was ranked near the bottom in terms of resident’s satisfaction.

Currently, only 3.1% of respondents use public transit as their primary mode of transportation and nine out of ten people rarely or never use transit. However, almost half of respondents said that improving transit system routes and frequencies would be effective in encouraging them to use their own vehicle less frequently.

Just under half (43.2%) of households in Kelowna are two vehicle households. Three in ten households (31.0%) are single vehicle households. Only 3.7% of households had no vehicles.
