Fire Prevention Week
October 4 -10, 2009
Fire Prevention Week takes place from October 4th to October 10th, 2009. Despite the fact that fewer fire losses are reported in Canada, on average eight Canadians die from fire every week.
During this week, Kelowna Fire Department has teamed up with the National Fire Protection Association
and fire departments across the nation to raise awareness of the dangers of fire and educate the public on ways we can protect ourselves from fire.
Stay Fire Smart! Don't Get Burned©
This year's theme, "Stay Fire Smart! Don't Get Burned©”, underscores the importance of taking simple measures that can prevent a fire disaster from occurring. Statistics reveal that most fires are caused by careless behaviour. Just by taking extra caution in our home, many of these fires are preventable.
Protect your family by taking the time to learn about fire prevention in our area.
