Ethel Street Forcemain & Brandt's Creek Lift Station
Construction of the Brandt's Creek Tradewaste Treatment Plant Lift Station and Forecmain will take place from October until spring of 2010.
Background The tradewaste treatment was designed to treat wastewater from two food and beverage-related industries. The treatment facility was designed to discharge treated effluent to Brandt's Creek. The City has been working closely with the Industries to improve effluent quality and provide a better system for conveying the effluent from the plant to the City sewer system.
The scope of work will include a treatment plant upgrade and construction of an effluent lift station at Weddell Place and Ethel Street. The project will begin with the installation of 1,100 metre forcemain from the lift station south along Ethel Street to the tie-in north of Bernard Avenue.
Road Closures Road closures are expected along Ethel Street between Bernard Avenue and Weddell Place to accommodate the installation of the forcemain. The forcemain is scheduled for completion by the end of November. The lift station will be completed in spring of 2010.
Costs The facility was constructed in 1973 and upgraded in 1986. The Industries have entered into a Local Area Service Agreement with the City's portion estimated at $52,000 for additional work to accommodate future rerouting of sanitary sewer.
