Kelowna is a Canadian leader with it's bus fleet technology. Kelowna was the first community in Canada to use Hybrid Electric Buses. Kelowna also is one of few communities utilizing Double Decker buses, which reduce the number of buses on the road and are also more fuel efficient. All Kelowna Regional Transit buses are equipped with bike racks allowing users to combine travel modes making it even easier to choose transit and active transportation for your travel needs.
Operation
Funding for the Kelowna Regional Transit System is cost shared between the City of Kelowna, Central Okanagan Regional District, District of Lake Country and BC Transit.
Decisions about fares, routes and service levels are made by Kelowna City Council, the Regional District Board and Lake Country Council based on information and planning provided by the Municipal Systems Program of BC Transit. Buses in Kelowna are operated by First Group Inc on behalf of the funding partners.
