Partners in Parks

The City of Kelowna encourages community involvement in the design, creation and maintenance of parks and open spaces through its Partners in Parks Program. By combining our resources, and through donations of gifts, money, time and talent, we can reduce vandalism and enhance the City’s parks system.

Why should you participate? Ben Lee Park

In our increasingly urban environment citizen demand for parks and open space is on the rise at the same time there is a growing reluctance to accept a burgeoning tax burden. Citizens can make a difference by volunteering their time, skill and talents; positive action now will ensure the future of our parkland legacy.

What can you contribute or donate?

Partnerships can take on many forms. Local businesses can donate or purchase park amenities or playground equipment. Citizens can volunteer time patrolling parks to promote safety and decrease vandalism. Professional groups such as landscape architects, community planners, lawyers and accountants can donate time and expertise to develop parks and administer their maintenance; and sporting groups can conduct fundraising campaigns to build and operate sporting facilities. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination!

How do I contribute?

A Community Development Team will be established to work with you as a partner in park development and operation. Representatives will meet with you or your group to discuss the details of your potential partnership. We can offer assistance with proposed fund-raising projects or help with the logistics of making a donation.
