Environment Development Permits
Kelowna’s beautiful natural setting and stewardship of the environment are priorities for our citizens. The City of Kelowna’s development permit process helps sustain the ecological needs of the environment while sustaining the social needs of the community.
If a property is located in a designated Natural Environment Development Permit area, a development permit is required for any activity that alters the land.
A development permit is required before:
- building a new structure
- adding to existing structures,
- placing fill or removing soils,
- removing trees or vegetation, or
- altering the land within the environmentally sensitive portion of the property.
