New Tools and New Ways to Win at Carpool.ca!

Carpool.ca has some great new tools for making your commute even easier!  Registered users have access to maps with nearby carpoolers to help them find a match, and now you can see even more partners with the Route Matching Tool. Not only will you find carpool partners in your neighbourhood, but you can find partners along your route as well.

The Trip Tracker tool is another great new feature. Open the Trip Tracker calendar and simply drag and drop the mode you use for travel for each day. Emissions from each mode are tallied on the side giving you a simple way to see all the emissions you can save!

Try these new tools during Carpool Week (October 24-28) and you are automatically entered to win great prizes, including a Kindle Reader, GPS System and more than $400 worth of fuel! More information is available on our Carpool Page and on Carpool.ca.

Thank you for an Epic 2011 Car Free Day!

Over 1500 people reclaimed the street by walking, cycling, skateboarding or roller skating through Stuart Park and Water Street on Sunday September 25. The purpose of Car Free Day was to raise awareness about choosing active forms of transportation to get around, rather than driving alone, and of course to celebrate all the fun you can have on the street when there are no cars! Everyone that attended had a great time participating in the different aspects of the event, including the BMX demonstrations, hockey and roller derby, yoga, kids’ activities and the local market. A huge highlight of the day was the atmosphere of the Inside Ride, a spin-a-thon that took place in Stuart Park. Spinner's raised funds for cancer in advance and celebrated during Car Free Day with a high energy party. The Kelowna City Band, Kelowna Rock School, Great Way Martial Arts and West Kelowna Gymnastics entertained crowds and KSAN made sure every bike was beautifully decorated.

A big thank you to all our volunteers, sponsors, bike shops and local merchants for making the day such a huge success!
