Bike to Work Week 2010 (May 10 to 16)

The Central Okanagan came together to participate in our sixth annual Bike to Work Week along with Bike to School Week and Bike to Faith Week.

194 workplace teams and 26 schools signed up for Bike to Work Week.  Each day, Celebration Stations were held in neighbourhoods throughout Kelowna to bring cyclists together for fun, prizes, food, bike tune ups and more. We had a record number of 235 cyclists attending the breakfast station at Good Earth Cafe and Kelowna Cycle at the Pandosy Village (Mission) Celebration Station on Thursday! Like any program that raises awareness of a new habit or activity, we want this to be a fun opportunity to create a new culture in your workplace where employees can try cycling for the first time and decide to stick with it throughout the rest of the year. Cycling can be a REAL alternative to the car for Central Okanagan commuters!

Heart & Stroke Big Bike Ride

On April 30, mascots from around Kelowna and Bike to Work team leaders participated in the Heart & Stroke Big Bike! Our Bike to Work team ride raised $1460 for the Heart & Stroke foundation. Check out the photo.
